Egmont

Egmont, a small waterfront village on Secret Bay in Sechelt Inlet, is located just east of the BC Ferries terminal at Earls Cove. Best known as the trailhead for the famous Skookumchuck Provincial Park, the area surrounding the town offers unlimited outdoor adventure.

Outdoor Adventure

Skookumchuk Narrows Provincial Park offers one of the largest saltwater rapids on Canada's West Coast. The Skookumchuk Rapids boils as huge volumes of water force their way through Skookumchuk Narrows at the north end of Sechelt Inlet. The easy 4km walking trail in Egmont takes you to two viewing sites–North Point and Roland Point. Plan your visit when the tide is changing!

Getting to Egmont

Egmont is located 6km off Highway 101 at the northern end of the Sechelt Peninsula on the lower Sunshine Coast.

If you are coming from the Lower Mainland, the Sunshine Coast is accessible by airplane or by a 40-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver to the Langdale Ferry Terminal. Highway 101 links Langdale with Egmont.

If you're coming from Powell River, take the ferry from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove at the north end of the Sunshine Coast and drive about south along Highway 101 until you see the turn off to Egmont.

Egmont is also a popular departure point for cruises up Jervis Inlet and Queens Reach to Princess Louisa Inlet and the Chatterbox Falls. Known as one of the most scenic natural anchorages in the world, Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park offers a tranquil paradise. Boat charters are available from Egmont and guided tours can be arranged to many beautiful areas.
Diving is also popular in the area. There are dive sites in the waters of Jervis Inlet off Foley Head, in Agamemnon Channel and the Park Wall off North Point at the Skookumchuk Narrows. There are also plenty of opportunities for sea kayaking, fishing and canoeing in the area.
