Desolation
Sound Marine Park

This park is a boating and sea kayaking paradise, and the park’s warm waters are ideal for swimming and scuba diving. Located at the confluence of Malaspina Inlet and Homfray Channel, Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park has more than 60km of shoreline, several islands and numerous small bays and coves. The park has three major destinations with anchorage: Prideaux Haven, Tenedo’s Bay and Grace
Harbour.

Both saltwater and tidal fishing are enjoyed in the park—you may catch salmon, rockfish, oysters, prawns, cod, snapper and more. (Please note: anyone fishing or angling in British Columbia must have an appropriate license.)

Getting to
Desolation Sound
The Park is located north of both Powell River and Lund on the Sunshine Coast and is accessible by boat only. Lund is the closest community and is a good place to launch your kayak or begin your boating adventure.

The marine life in the area is fabulous—watch for giant sunflower stars, clusters of purple stars, sea cucumbers and urchins. View Harbour seal haul-out sites and spot porpoises, white-sided dolphins and the occasional killer whale.

Park Facilities
Wilderness, backcountry or walk-in camping is allowed in the park, however be prepared for no facilities. There are two tent pads and one pit toilet at both Tenedoes Bay and Grace
Harbour. Grace Harbour also has an information shelter and another pit toilet is available at Melanie
Cove. The park is open year round.
